Margaret Rossiter

Margaret Rossiter's paintings are the end result of devoting decades to the loving and intimate observation of nature. This is a practice that serves to sharpen awareness and deepen respect for the sacred, interconnected web of life. Her paintings are an intense and passionate response to the natural world.

Margaret's subject matter ranges widely, and includes studies of the plants in her garden, landscapes of the open waters of Georgian Bay, woodland views, and still-life paintings of familiar items around her home. The different genres are united by a naturalistic style, subtle handling of light and texture, and a rich treatment of colour and detail.

"And she's done it all as a creative professional:-obtained a Masters of Fine Arts degree and taught as an Assistant Professor at what is now the University of Illinois. These are enormous accomplishments but that are only facets of the real underlying journey. - The natural world could be a direct means of experiencing the spiritual. Whether it's the loveliness of a flower of the vastness of a Georgian Bay landscape, the divine is revealed through Margaret's passionate response to beauty. A coherent vision emerges from the successful combining of the four elements: an innate sensibility, an accomplished technique, self awareness and a spiritual connectedness.
