An Ontario College of Art graduate and Interior Decorating major
from George Brown College, Michelle Demeulenaere operates her own
interior painting business creating faux finishes, murals and regular
painting. Her precise, contrived Interior work is a complete parallel
to her stylized, experimental, abstract paintings and although
the style is different, many of her work subjects consist of interior
content. Her work is a playful expression, rebelling against society's
perfection and insistence to be realistic. Simplicity is key; where
sharp lines and warming colors mix to create an instant everlasting
impression and comprehension of the subject matter is instantaneous
upon viewing. She revisits textiles of the past and images in nature
in her paintings that remind her of colorful objects that she grew
up with and gains inspiration from books, media, pop culture and
illustrated icons from the past and present.
Michelle has donated a number of pieces of her art work to various
charities and fund raisers.
