Susan began painting in 1996 and ignited a passion that continues
to flourish and lead to adventures and explorations in printmaking,
acrylics, watercolour, mixed media, collage and encaustic. While
living and working in Latin America for a number of years she developed
a great appreciation for vibrant colour and dramatic style, which
has influenced her work. Her distinctive, colourful and abstract
style has been gaining recognition along with her unusual combination
and use of materials.
She has enjoyed intuitive painting with Dorothy Clark McClure
at the Georgina School of Art, watercolour with Alana Biasi and
David Greaves and locally with fellow Bramptonian Jack Reid. As
a summer student for five years at the Haliburton School of Art,
Susan studied painting in different media with Brian Atyeo, Peter
Kolisnyk; Kai – Liis McInnis, Jack Parker, Sam Sakr and Lila
Lewis Irving. Her fascination with printmaking began with Stephanie
Rayner, and expanded in classes with Vicki Cowan and in lithography
with Master Printmaker, Otis Tamasauskis.
Evoking her fascination with nature's forms and interpretations,
Susan's prints bring a refreshing new look to an old art medium
and make a bold statement in a traditional or modern urban interior
setting. |
