WHAT SHOULD A WORK OF ART OFFER YOU?
Miro, the great Spanish artist, one of the most original of the twentieth century said, “A work of art is a doorway to another world.” In the tradition of the Orthodox Church, Icons are sacred pictures that are objects of meditation leading to a direct experience of the sacred. Most would agree that a work of art should give you a unique experience, a blend of mystery and inspiration, something that is uplifting and moving.
At ACA Gallery, we choose the works we offer by this standard. Whether a work is a literal rendering of nature, or an abstract, it must bring us close to an essence of human experience. Unfortunately, in many places this quality of power and mystery has become connected with high prices and a kind of “star system” that is actually contrary to the essence of art.
We believe that the spirit of art should be accessible to all. That an unknown artist can be as moving as one with an international reputation, that beauty is not a matter of pedigree. Consequently, many of our emerging artists are modestly priced. Works by mid-career artists are also available for serious collectors. But in the final analysis it is you who must pass through Miro’s enchanted doorway and be moved by a special creation. We will work with you or your designer to help open the door to find the unique work that speaks directly to your soul.
